VerticalScope / Lead Software Engineer on Airliners.net – Remote

• Sole developer responsible for maintaining Airliners.net site and developing new features, fixing bugs.
• Responsible for daily DevOps tasks relating to Apache, Elasticsearch, Redis, MySQL and other services.
• Created standardized local development environment for Airliners.net using: Vagrant, VirtualBox, Ansible.
• Assisted final internal transfer of Airliners.net site from SoftLayer infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform including rebuilding all Airliners.net servers and services on Debian OS instances.

Leaf Group (Demand Media) / Software Engineer – Santa Monica, CA

• Lead developer on complete rebuild of Airliners.net site using Symfony 2 PHP Framework and PhpBB.
• Wrote 10,000+ line SQL migration script to convert multiple legacy MySQL databases to modern relational structure with foreign keys. Total rows transferred: ~100M
• Designed multi-step and multi-tiered photo upload interface using Elasticsearch, MySQL and JS.
• Designed search interface for Airliners.net site using Elasticsearch including custom PHP console indexing tool.
• Migrated 20-year-old custom forum to modern PhpBB 3.0 forum solution including shared PhpBB user authentication with main Symfony 2.0 photo upload application. Migration involved >9M forum posts.
• Assisted with integration of custom Node.js photo image processing application into Symfony 2 application.
• Responsible for custom HTML, SCSS/CSS and Twig template design for majority of Airliners.net redesign.
• Assisted transfer of Airliners.net property from Leaf Group/Demand Media datacenter to VerticalScope SoftLayer infrastructure including configuring CentOS servers and all application configuration.

• Worked with IT team in Shanghai, China to develop JigoCity.com, a daily deals and social commerce platform with markets in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, China and Australia.
• Programmed new site features and squashed bugs within the site's CakePHP-based codebase.
